 Stampings are customarily manufactured as reels containing over 1200 contacts.  Because of such volume, each piece is incapable of being inspected manually. If manual, then a statistical sampling method is adopted and some 10 stampings are cut from the reel and visually inspected to pass QC tests.  Obviously, this is a huge compromise. The answer to this problem lies in creating a Vision-based Metal Stamping Inspection system that is 100% online, concurrent with the manufacturing process itself. 

 

What our SIB can do

 

SIB can check the stampings  for dimensional tolerances and identify those that need to be “rejected” because of non-conformance to predefined standards.

Feeder for conveying stampings from production lines to SIB

      1.  Will collect images and compares actual dimensional data for listed 

                      parameters for each and every piece

      2.  Process algorithms will “decide” whether acceptable

      3.  SIB issues command to machine to STOP, if any piece exceeds 

           tolerances  

      4.  Operator intervention to resume operation of SIB
